One preset is active at a time, and selecting another replaces it. To build a more customized look, apply the filter closest to what you want and then layer manual Finetune adjustments such as brightness, contrast, or saturation on top.
Yes, at any point before saving you can switch back to the unfiltered option or pick a different preset, and the preview updates instantly. Nothing is permanent until you export the file.
Filters only alter colors and tones; the pixel dimensions stay exactly the same. The exported file size may differ slightly because the image is re-encoded on save, but the resolution is unchanged.
